The 2022 FIFA World Cup is the final round of the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup, a four-year international football competition organized by FIFA, where 32 national football teams (men’s), including the international football body FIFA, will compete.

This is the first time that the FIFA World Cup will be held in any country in the Arab world. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Due to the intense summer heat in Qatar, the event will be held in 6 venues in 5 cities of Qatar from 21st November to 18th December 2022, making it the first event not to be held in May, June, or July.

France is the previous FIFA World Cup winner, having beaten Croatia 4–2 in 2018 final to win the title for the second time.
